hi rabbi my fiance told me that i have to follow his minhag i didnt understand :S can you explain it 2 me thank you
Answer:
Jewishness is carried on by a families maternal line. Jewish customs and traditions are carried on by the fathers side. For instance, if a women were to marry a sefardic man, she would take on all of the sefardic customs. The children would also be brought up according to the fathers customs of chassidus even down to if he stands or sits for kiddush. If a persons father is a Kohein, Levi or Yisrael, he takes this from his father and carries it on. If a persons mother is not Jewish, even if all the above is kept by the father, the Jewishness is not passed on to the children. They are not half Jewish or even a quarter as this goes entirely by the mothers herritage. This is all from the bible and known for thousands of years.

Question:
Hi, Reb Moshe!

I'm wondering . . . HaShem changed Abram's name to Abraham and Jacob's name to Israel.

The Chamash states that it's forbidden to refer to Abraham as Abram since HaShem changed his name.

Does that mean that it's also forbidden to refer to Israel as Jacob? After all, HaShem changed his name, too.
Answer:
There is a difference in Avraham's name Jacob's name. Avraham had a letter added to his name because he was lacking something and the Hey that was added was from G-d's name, to give him what he needed. Jacob on the other hand had reached a new level so G-d gave him an other name in addition to his original name. So Jacob is both Jacob and Israel.
