Question:
What is your favourite type of music?what is jewish music like? not bein rude!
Answer:
Interesting question. I like old time nigunim of the Rebbes from the 1800's. I also like Jewish Music from the 80's. Since the 80's, the music all sounds very similar. It is nice that in the last couple years, new musicians are starting to do something new finally but still there is much repetitive styles. An artist should always remember to be themselves and not conform their work to synchronize the existing styles. Now if I wasn't religious, I would be totally into Hip Hop, but don't tell anyone;) A new Jewish musican called, JLove has some interesting jewish hip hop. Today, most songs last 3-4 minutes. True Jewish music by the holy Rebbes could be listened to for 30minutes straight as a type of mantra. This is how I try to sing at my shabbos table.

Subject:music & Hashem's name
Question:
I am about to have two CDs be released, and I am

concerned about using the english spellings of

His Names. Specifically, Elokhim, E--l, E--l El-

yon, and Y-ah-we-h. I have heard many opinions on

this matter, some say, since it is in english, it

is not an issue. Some then say, it is more proper

to use Elokim, etc (I don't know the other forms

for the rest listed).
Answer:
this is a very common mistake by musicians. You cannot say Hashem's name in music just because it sounds good. It is even preferable to blank out blessings on audio if one can. Though shall not take Hashem's name in vain!
