Question:
The payes, the whole outfit ,gives a stuffy, awkward and unattractive face to Judaism. Yet people risk their lives (as you worry about while driving) and look unattractive as they walk G-d\'s earth. If one wishes to appear holy, then dress in robes as they did in Biblical days. The \"true Jews,\" on the streetcorners of Harlem do just that and do yruly reflect G-d\'s beauty!
Answer:
Maimonides says that a person should dress as is the current Jewish custom in there area. They should not be exteme which would draw more attention and cause them pride. Rabbis generally take a step up from what is normal to show royalty and respect for Hashem. Chassidim dress with fur hats on shabbos which were the custom of people of high rankings in Russia in the old says. We all do this because on shabbos, we are all raised up and are similar to royalty.

Dear reb moshe my hebrew name is moshe too i nee help ive had so much happen since i was little i have been picked on and it finally ate me i hate everyone soo much i wish they would die i dont like to even be in public since everywhere i go no matter what i do im always criticized ive become extreamly paranoid what do i do????

Danny
Answer:
Well, you know that mostt people that are picked on usually in the end are the sucessful ones that everyone looks up too. You just have to bite the bullet a little longer and it will go away and you will rise to the top. Rebbe Nachman says, if you are silent when confronted, in the end, you will prevail and Hashem Himself will raise you up. You have to work on self confidence, no matter what anyone says, you are a great person. Believe in this with all your heart and know it. Nobody picks on a confident person. Confidence is a state of mind.

Question:
I am recently married and I have been covering all my hair since then (I am a BT and my husband is a convert) so how can I explain to our families why I always have a scarf on my head? They think we are really strange! Also, do Breslov women use sheitels or tichels? Thank you...and I love the illustrations on your new website!
Answer:
Usually being upfront and honest with family about why you and your husband are doing things, that they might find strange, is the best move. Tell them that Jewish law says that married women must cover thteir hair for modesty reasons.
Breslov generally takes on the costum of the community that is lived in.

Question:
Dear rebbi..site
great.Thank YOU. Is
it a sin to repent
of using different names of Hashem..? How do we
show respect to rabbis?
Answer:
Yes, it is something that is mentioned in Yom Kippur numerous times, in and viduy. If one is even praying and mispronounces Hashems name, they have to repent for this immediately. How much more so, someone who used Hashem's name frivolously.
The Talmud teaches us that every community must support the Rabbi financially, take care of his mundane needs. One should stand up when he wants in the room to show respect for the Torah he has learned. One should not even reach out his arm to shake the Rabbis hand but wait until he extends it. Respect for Rabbis is part of respecting the Kingship of Hashem.

Question:
One thing that I've noticed that no one seems to address is what happens for a girl or woman who is an orphan? How does she go about getting married if she has no parents? Who pays for her wedding? I'm thinking of some girl who was raised in an institution all her life and no family ever adopted her - worse case scenario- I know.
Another area that no one has addressed that I can find is, what happens for a widow who wishes to get married again?
Answer:
the torah obligates us to take these people in and make them part of our family.
