Question:
Dear Rabbi,

I am in a heap of hot water with regards to a large amount of student loan money which took me from my BA to the Ph.D. level. The Ph.D. is in a multidisciplinary field - the MA is in counseling psychology. I owe nearly $200,000 and the student loan people (US gov't) say I no longer can defer based on economic hardship. I work within social services for a contractor in San Diego, CA. I overcame a mental health challenge to be able to rise to the educational level that I did. Despite this achievement, jobsd are scarce or low-piad. No one seems to know about any relief or "bailout" money. I make a relatively small, hourly amount - my self-esteem is not tied in to the amount I make; but I feel forced into a corner with no way out. Do you have any suggestions or recommendations or names of agencies which might help take some of the burden off? I'm willing to do almost anything as long as it's legal and not a danger to myself or someone else? Please help... thank you.
Answer:
You should try doing debt consolidation but it is very important you do it through agencies which are recommended by people you know. Ask around as today, just about every person knows a few people that had to go this channel. In a few years your credit will return quicker then expected as the economy improves and so many will have taken this path. Be positive, you have a PHD, as soon as the market opens up, you will prosper well. Pray hard and you will be answered! Keep Joy always

I am told to be a famous man. But what people don't know is that I am now very very poor. I owe money to everybody in my family and to 8 different banks. Lots of money. I don't know how to do. Uy nebach, I am so sorry to hear this. I know your pain, I also owe a lot, more then anyone knows I do. I will pray for you my friend. The key to wealth is faith and still being very genenours with the little you have, even time if thats all you have to give to others.
